Reasons for short driving distance in winter electric cars
- Aug 21, 2018 -

Many car owners will find a common problem in driving electric cars in winter: the mileage is greatly reduced. This is completely affected by the low temperature, not the car has failed, please be assured of the owners. So what should we pay attention to when driving in winter?

1. Charge the battery for a little while before the electric car travels, preheat the battery

In the winter, careful car owners should be aware that 70% of the electricity was parked yesterday, that is, when they went to open one night, they found "leakage"! In fact, this is not a "leakage", which is a "low temperature". During the driving process of the electric vehicle, the battery is in a state of continuous discharge, and the battery will heat up during the discharge, so the battery itself is relatively hot, and the battery voltage is relatively high. This shows that before the driver gets off the car, the car owners see that the remaining power of the vehicle is still relatively large, but after parking for a whole night on a cold winter night, the battery has already cooled down and the voltage is reduced. At this time, the BMS will automatically Adjust the display power and cruising range, and then the owners will see the so-called "leakage" situation.

Before the electric car travels, it will recharge the battery and preheat it. The “leakage” situation will not appear again. If the owner is at a temperature below 0 degrees Celsius, the low temperature charging mode can also be used to preheat the battery.

2, try to maintain a constant speed while driving a car

In the process of driving an electric car, you should avoid the habit of slamming and braking, and try to keep driving at a constant speed. For fuel vehicles, fuel consumption and brake pad loss can be reduced, and electric vehicles can effectively reduce brake pad loss and battery power consumption. Therefore, whether it is driving a fuel car or an electric car, this is a good driving habit.

3, should develop a good habit of "use with the charge"

Because the temperature in winter is relatively low, when the battery of the power battery is lower than 0 degrees Celsius, the system will automatically heat the battery cells first. When the temperature of the battery cells reaches 5 degrees Celsius or above, the vehicle will actually start charging. Many car owners feel that the speed of charging electric vehicles in the winter suddenly becomes slower, but in fact, it is time to heat the battery cells before charging the vehicle.

4, try to charge in a higher temperature environment

Whether it is temporary parking or charging, try to choose a place with relatively high temperature (such as underground parking lot, closed garage, etc.) under certain conditions.

In cold weather, whether it is electric vehicles or two-wheeled or three-wheeled electric vehicles, it will be affected, so we must maintain good driving habits and minimize the impact of this.
